AI is already embedded across financial services, helping advisers streamline research, draft client communications and identify planning opportunities more efficiently, but its value depends on how it’s used. While it can save time and improve consistency, it should be treated as a starting point, not a final authority, as outputs can be confident but flawed. Responsibility remains firmly with the adviser and firm, placing SM&CR, Consumer Duty and data protection at the centre of adoption.
The firms that will benefit most are those taking a measured, well-governed approach using AI to enhance insight and efficiency while maintaining the human judgement, oversight and accountability that underpin good client outcomes.
