Alternative Assessment innovation will ensure IFAs do not get left behind.
Panacea understands that the CII have announced an updated list of alternative assessment, QCF approved, qualifications. New to this list from 1st April is the alternative assessment Diploma In Regulated Financial Planning level 4 for left handed IFAs.
Each candidate will be assessed by two Chartered Financial Planners who are trained to meet the high standards we have come to expect of CII “Left Handed assessors”.
The alternative assessment for left handed IFAs qualification will fully comply with the FSA Diversity in the Workplace requirements.
The assessment process follows regulatory guidelines requiring that any alternative “Left Handed” QCF assessment must be rigorous and robust, ensuring that consumers can be confident alternative assessments are as testing as the standard examination route.
It has taken the CII six months of intensive work with input from both practitioners and the regulator to develop this alternative assessment route, but we at Panacea are pleased that they are able to provide advisers with a genuinely alternative option to exams. The alternative assessment is a demanding option that involves testing the full “Left Handed” syllabus in the course of a single day.
To help candidates decide whether it is the right option for them, a free online pre-assessment diagnostic tool has been developed. This will help candidates determine their suitability and ensure they understand clearly what is involved.”
Since announcing the alternative assessment for “Left Handed” advisers the CII has been inundated with requests for a similar course for “Right Handers”.

Several weeks ago The National Skills Academy for Financial Services and CTP (Corporate Training Partnerships) announced that their new work based assessment qualification is to be added to the Financial Services Authoritys (FSA) Qualification list.
Im sure neither will be cheap, but Ill have a fiver on it that the NSA version is significantly less expensive than the CII option.
I just wonder what all those on this site will have to say about either of these. Too expensive will no doubt be one complaint. But too expensive to ensure you stay in business surely not? I just wonder what other reasons those who have been bleating about not wanting to take exams, being too old to take exams, that the exams are not relevant and that the cliff edge will see us loose our livelihoods and we will then have to subsist on bread and water will now come up with to explain to us why this too is unsuitable and unfair.
