Practical Protection Podcast - Not Just the Money (50 mins CPD)
This time, I am joined once again by Matt Rann. We are talking about the value added benefits that can come with protection insurance policies, and how they really can be helpful.
The value added benefits made available with vary from insurer to insurer, but can be things such as:
- Remote access to a UK GP
- Second medical opinion services on a diagnosis or treatment
- Nutrition and fitness experts
- Mental health support
The main reason for insurers offering these is to really provide something which will truly benefit the customer. On top of that, it’s much better to prevent something than have to cure it, and by offering preventative services, there may be less people needing to claim on their policies.
We have two real life examples of how these have made a big difference to a person. First I talk about the recent case that I am sure many of us have seen, about Dave Marcus and the life changing support he received from these services. After using the service of a second medical opinion, he received a diagnosis of lung cancer. I have also used these services for myself and my family, as it’s not just the policyholder but their partner and children that are covered too.
I think these really can make a huge difference, not just to the customer but they can at times reduce strain on the NHS too. That’s why I make a habit of recommending products with value added benefits even if they cost slightly more, so that the client can decide for themselves if they think the services warrant a small price increase.
