Results from the 2013 Savings Index indicate that overall levels of preparedness have continued to drop since their minor recovery in 2011, although the drop is marginal compared to 2012:

  • 55% are ‘not saving adequately’, an increase of 1% since 2012.
  • 20% are not saving anything for retirement.
  • An underprepared population is entering old age with an increasing number of credit commitments.
