In the latest CuraVision video from Cura, Kathryn talks about Olivia, who came to Cura because she'd just set up a capital repayment mortgage and wanted to put something in place, to provide some financial security to her family in case something was to happen to her. Giving her reassurance that her husband and children could stay in the family home, and not have the unnecessary financial worry during what would be a difficult time.
The reason Olivia came to Cura for assistance in finding her a policy was that since early childhood she had Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and it was something that had been with her for a very long time. In addition to this diagnosis she had a history of experiencing maybe one or two panic attacks a month, and over 10 years prior to speaking to us, she had a suicide attempt. Now in her forties, Olivia was in a completely new place, she now had a family and the thought of harming herself couldn’t have been further from her mind now. After speaking to the insurer, they agreed with us that Olivia had no higher risk of claiming on the insurance and offered her the policy. This also meant that Olivia, her husband and children now had access to value added services throughout the length of the policy, not just at the claim stage.
We were able to arrange Olivia to have a £160,000 worth of decreasing life insurance over 15 years to match her mortgage. Being a smoker, the premium was probably a bit higher than some people would expect, it came to £27 per month.
