Aviva Investors’ latest research report: “Meeting the income needs of today’s investor.”

Investment News for Financial Advisers and Paraplanners

1 Oct 2015

The search for income has never been more important, or more challenging, for investors than it is today, given that interest and annuity rates, as well as bond yields, are near record lows.

Considering the above, we commissioned the research in our latest publication. We surveyed over 240 financial intermediaries and 500 individual investors, to understand the key considerations in the search for income and the challenges faced by those like you who are responsible for the financial well-being of individual investors.

Our research highlighted the importance of a sustainable, regular income to today’s investor.

Key findings:

  • 84% of advisers consider a yield above 4% unlikely to be sustainable
  • 75% of advisers rated multi-strategy funds as an attractive proposition
  • 60% of investors are not prepared to accept more risk to achieve their income requirements
  • 43% of advisers reported their clients are leaving their pension pot untouched and are looking to other investments to generate income
